It was an interesting year for the Longhorns. At times they seemed like it was gonna be a long season but they pulled it together and made it in to the NCAA Playoffs.
They ended the season with a 33-26 overall record including 16-10 at home and 10-11 when playing away games. Texas finished 4th in the Big 12 Conference with a record of 7-10.
Texas used a several pitchers approach for their games using, Erica Wright, 1.63 ERA, 8-7 record, Tiarra Davis, 2.02 ERA, 8-11 record, Paige Von Sprecken, 2.19 ERA, 7-6 record, Brooke Bolinger, 2.50 ERA, 7-2 record and Kristen Clark, 2.97 ERA, 3-0 record.
On the hitting side of things one of the biggest surprises this year was from freshmen catcher Taylor Ellsworth who ended the season with a .394 BA, 3 HR, 24 RBI. Senior Devon Tunning also had a good year with her .335 BA, 5 HR, 23 RBI. Bekah Alcozer also brought a big bat with her team leading 6 HR and 24 RBI.
The Longhorns got a tough draw in the playoffs ending up in the College Station Regional where they first faced Texas State losing 1-2 before getting wins of 8-0 over Texas Southern and against Texas State 6-3. Their season came to a quick end though when they lost to Texas A&M 1-3.
