In 2016 Arkansas only won 1 game in SEC play against 23 losses and went 17-39 overall so it was a who knows what’s gonna happen this year looking in from the outside of the program. But second year head coach Courtney Deifel definitely made some vast improvements to the way the team played ending the 2017 season with a 31-24 record and 7-17 conference record.
The young team was lead offensively by the big bat of Nicole Schroeder who had a record 17 home runs and 49 RBI’s in her 2017 season. Although she also struck out 30 times during the season. The pitching staff also tightened up their game lead by Autumn Storms who ended 2017 with a 2.28 ERA and a 16-15 record. Grace Moll also helped out with her 3.69 ERA and 8-4 record.
Once in the playoffs though the team was quickly eliminated with back to back losses, first to Tulsa 4-5 then 3-5 to the eventual 2017 Champs Oklahoma in the Norman Regional.
