After Sunday’s semi-finals games we have the two teams who will be playing in the WCWS championship series.
The top seeded Florida Gators made it an easy day with their 5-2 win over Washington in the first game of the day
played. The Gators bats got to Huskies starting pitcher Taran Alvelo right from the start scoring 1 in the first inning and 3 more runs in the second inning with one of those runs coming on a Kayli Kvistad home run. Washington brought pitcher Madi Schreyer in relief and she got things calmed down until in the 5th inning when the Gators added to their lead with another run. Delanie Gourley got the complete game win.
In the second game of the day it was Oregon taking on Oklahoma. After taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the 5th Oregon gave it all back and more letting Oklahoma score 4 runs in the bottom of the inning and that was all they needed for the 4-2 win that moves them in to the championship series against Florida.
So it will be Florida going for their 3rd championship in 4 years against Oklahoma who will be trying to defend their
championship win from last year. The action gets started on Monday in a best of three series.
