In my semi-finals picks I went 1-1.
After being rained out Friday the action moved to Saturday for the SEC Tournament. First up was Ole Miss vs. Alabama. It didn’t take long for Ole Miss to get three runs on the board off of starting Alabama pitcher Sydney Littlejohn thanks to a combination of aggressive base running from Ole Miss and bad fielding choices by Alabama. Once again Kaitlin Lee was in the pitching circle for Ole Miss doing a masterful job holding Alabama to just one run and getting the complete game 4-1 win.
In game two of the semi-finals it was Auburn vs. LSU. For some reason Auburn just seemed off their game and in the top of the 5th inning it almost looked like an old Keystone Cops movie with Auburn throwing the ball all over the place in error and not having their foot on the base for easy outs. Maybe going for their record setting third consecutive SEC Title had Auburn nervous or too relaxed thinking it was going to be an easy game. While on the other hand, as always happens come playoff time LSU turns into a scrappy team that does whatever is needed to win. LSU won easily by a final score of 6-0.
So this years SEC championship game will be Ole Miss vs. LSU. My pick to win is Ole Miss. This team just has a magic feeling going in this tournament with Kaitlin Lee’s pitching and the team’s can win attitude.
The SEC Championship game starts at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
