Wildcats host Tennessee for weekend series

LEXINGTON, Ky. – After No. 20 Kentucky’s midweek game was rained out on Wednesday night due to severe thunderstorms in the Lexington area, the Wildcats will shift their focus back to Southeastern Conference play this weekend for a three-game series with No. 17 Tennessee at John Cropp Stadium in Lexington beginning on Friday night. All three games of the series will be live on the SEC Network+, ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app.

Friday’s game will be at 6 p.m. ET, with Saturday (3 p.m.) and Sunday (1 p.m.) coming as afternoon games.

Kentucky is 8-0 this season in home games, with four wins over top-25 teams and three shutouts in those eight games.

The Wildcats are 24-8 overall and 5-4 in the Southeastern Conference with WKU entering the game at .500 overall with 20 wins and 20 losses, with a 4-8 record in Conference USA.

The Wildcats have a new batting leader, as Bailey Vick now is the top hitter for average on the Kentucky line-up, hitting at a .355 clip. Vick doubled over the weekend at No. 24 Ole Miss and had another multi-hit game on Sunday with a single and a double. In the circle, Meagan Prince leads the Wildcats with an 11-4 mark, and a 1.32 ERA. Prince got the win in game two over the weekend with a complete-game shutout, her second of the season.

Winners of 11 games in a row, Tennessee enters the weekend with one of the best records not only in the Southeastern Conference, but in the nation as well, at 32-5. The Volunteers are coming off of a 10-1 win over Eastern Kentucky in a midweek game at Lee Stadium in Knoxville. Last weekend, UT had its SEC bye weekend, as they swept the North Carolina State Wolfpack in a three-game series. Last time out in the league, UT swept Ole Miss with great offense.

Megan Gregg leads the potent offensive charge, hitting .448 overall with nine home runs and 52 RBI. In the circle, Matty Moss has a 1.33 ERA to lead all players and freshman Caylan Arnold has a 1.67 ERA with a 14-4 overall record.

Tennessee leads the all-time series with Kentucky, 41-14 overall, with the last meeting coming in 2015, when the
Wildcats were swept by the Vols in Knoxville. The last tine Kentucky played Tennessee in Lexington, UK took game
two of the series, with UT winning games one and three. 2011 was the last time that Kentucky won a series with
Tennessee, as UK took games one and three in Lexington. The Wildcats have never swept Tennessee before in a
