The team started this past weekend with their fall practices in the first on field step towards getting ready for the upcoming softball season.
Working on game basics longtime team head coach Patrick Murphy said as reported on the team’s site, “We’re going to do everything from bunting to team defense and base running and try and get through everything so that when the spring rolls around, it’s just reviewing.” Continuing on Murphy also said, “I want to make sure everyone knows what they need to do on a specific play so when it happens in a game, everyone will be covered.”
Alabama is returning 14 players from last year’s team that finished the year ranked 6th in the country while finishing with a 51-14 record.
This year’s team should be strong again in the pitching area with returning starters Alexis Osorio and Sydney Littlejohn anchoring the staff. The team also has a good crop of freshmen this year including; Elissa Brown, Gabby Callaway, Bailey Hemphill and Claire Jenkins.
The team has eight exhibition games scheduled for October at their home field Rhoads Stadium.
