Vols Release 2016 Fall Softball Schedule

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee softball announced its 2016 fall schedule Thursday morning. The slate consists of eight games that will be played over five days during the months of September and October.

All eight contests will be played at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium and will be free to attend. The first game will take place on Friday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. as the Volunteers take on Pfeiffer University, a Division II program located in Misenheimer, N.C.

UT will play doubleheaders on Oct. 2, Oct. 8 and Oct. 9 as they welcome Shorter College, Volunteer State Community College, Tennessee Tech, Alabama Huntsville, Chipola College and Walters State Community College. The Vols wrap up fall ball with an Oct. 19 matchup with ETSU.

The Big Orange are coming off their 13th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament and hosted an NCAA Regional for the 12th straight year in 2015. The Volunteers went 43-16 last season and finished third in the SEC regular-season standings. They return 14 letterwinners from last year’s team, including four players that earned SEC postseason honors, and welcome 10 newcomers to the roster this season.
